Un microbiota è l’insieme delle specie animali e vegetali che occupano un microambiente. Durante la pandemia, sono rimasta colpita dalla bellezza del Covid. Ho cercato altri virus, poi per estensione batteri, quindi protozoi ed alghe unicellulari. Il filo che li collegava era la bellezza. Alcuni portatori di malattie terribili e ciononostante bellissimi. Le diatomee: capolavori di geometrie biologiche e generatici di un quarto dell’ossigeno che respiriamo. Ossigeno responsabile della prima estinzione di massa del nostro pianeta, alla sua comparsa massiccia in atmosfera e nel mare. Li ho riprodotti, e li sto ancora realizzando, nella mia maniera a cerchi, con colori decisi da me, in disegni, in installazioni in ferro tagliato al laser e verniciato, e in quadri. Così facendo, ogni volta che li espongo, ricreo ogni volta un nuovo microbiota.

A microbiota is the set of animal and plant species that occupy a microenvironment. During the pandemic, I was struck by the beauty of Covid. I looked for other viruses, then by extension bacteria, then protozoa and unicellular algae. The thread that connected them was beauty. Some carriers of terrible diseases and yet beautiful. Diatoms: masterpieces of biological geometry and generate a quarter of the oxygen we breathe. Oxygen responsible for the first mass extinction of our planet, with its massive appearance in the atmosphere and sea. I have reproduced them, and I am still making them, in my circular way, with colors decided by me, in drawings, in laser-cut and painted iron installations, and in paintings. By doing so, every time I expose them, I recreate a new microbiota each time.
Microorganisms leave and have left a strong mark on environments, evolution and our lives.
